Jorge D. Riera

Jorge D. Riera received a Civil
Engineering degree from the University of Tucumán, Argentina in 1963
and a PhD degree from Princeton University, NJ, USA, in 1968. He worked in the
structural design of NPPs until 1970 in the USA, entering the Faculty of the
University of Tucumán in 1971 and the Faculty of the Federal University
of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1976, where he presently holds
the positions of Full Professor and head of the Laboratory of Structural Dynamics
and Reliability (LDEC). He is member of the Scientific Committees of several
international journals and conferences, and also member of the Brazilian National
Academy of Science (ABC), the National Academy of Science and National Academy
of Engineering of Argentina.
