Bernd Kluever was educated at the University of Braunschweig receiving a Degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in mechanical engineering with emphasis on Reactor Technology and Energy/Process Engineering. He received a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the same school with emphasis in Neutron Physics in Reactor Technology. For more than 25 years he has been working for different German Technical Support Organizations (TSO) supporting the nuclear regulator with respect to licensing evaluations and regulatory oversight for German and international nuclear facilities. Throughout his employment with TUEV NORD he held various positions from senior expert to Head of the Department Reactor Technology and Fluid Mechanics. Although working on a wide range of other subjects his main responsibilities at that time lay with the independent safety assessment and oversight in the fields of neutron physics, criticality safety, nuclear core design, fuel/core components design and fabrication as well as thermal hydraulic analyses for multiple NPP, fuel fabrication plants, storage casks and storage facilities (wet and dry). He is a Member of the German Standards working group “Criticality Safety” (DIN). Currently Bernd holds the position of Lead Nuclear Engineer at TUEV NORD and is Co-Chair of SMiRT 26.
