Naoto Kasahara is a professor of Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo. After graduation from mechanical engineering department of the University of Tokyo, in 1984, he entered the power reactor and nuclear fuel development corporation (now JAEA). During 24 years, he worked for the national project of fast breeder reactor development. From 1999 to 2000, he worked at the Cadarache research center of CEA France for thermal fatigue project. At 2008, he moved to the University of Tokyo. His specialties are structural analyses, high temperature strength and fast reactor plants. He published many books and university texts such as “The 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident – How and Why it Happened, Elsevier (2014)”, “Fast Reactor System Design, An Advanced Course in Nuclear Engineering, Springer (2017)”, etc.
